Peter P Michaud, J.D., R.N.
Peter Michaud is a nurse and attorney who serves as Associate General Counsel of the Maine Medical Association. His work involves government relations, public health policy and legal analysis on behalf of the association’s 4000+ physician members. He also serves as chair of the Maine Immunization Coalition.
A native of Madawaska, Maine, Mr. Michaud graduated from Harvard College in 1972, the University of Maine School of Law in 1977, and the Central Maine Medical Center College of Nursing and Health Professions (now the Maine College of Health Professions) in 2011.
Mr. Michaud has worked as an attorney in private practice, as a commissioner of the Maine Workers’ Compensation Commission, and as a mediator and arbitrator. He has chaired medical malpractice screening panels for the Maine Superior Court in over 100 cases.
Upon retiring from the practice of law in 2009 Mr. Michaud attended nursing school and worked as a nurse at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire and Memorial Hospital in North Conway, New Hampshire. Since January 2015 he has been Associate General Counsel of the Maine Medical Association.
When he is not working, Mr. Michaud can often be found on mountain ridges in northern New England.
